GHOST HUNT AT THE MANOR HOUSE, WEDNESBURY

Situated in West Bromwich, The Manor House is a magnificent timber beamed property that dates back as far as 1230. It was extended and added to during the 15th and 16th Centuries, the frontage shown in the picture above is only a small fraction of the building. Surrounded by a moat, thought to be original to the time of building, it remained a residential property until the 1880's when it was concealed behind modern brickwork and split into flats. Tragically, by the 1950's it was run down and derelict, however on clearing local 'slums' the original building was discovered and thankfully restored to its former glory, appearing now as it would have done hundreds of years ago. It has now been a pub and restaurant since the 1960's, drawing customers in with its unrivalled atmosphere and tangible sense of history.

In a building of this age, it is unsurprising that within a few months of it re-opening, reports of ghostly goings on were filtering through from customers and the landlord alike. These tales haven't ceased in almost 50 years. A bearded man has been seen looking forlornly out of a window, a grey haired old lady and a cloaked figure gliding down stairs and through closed doors and solid walls are just some of the regular visitors from another world and another time that have been seen in The Manor House. The current landlady has gotten used to hearing her name called when she is the only one in the building,  seeing doors open and close by themselves and other things beingmoved by unseen hands.

The Manor House, Wednesbury

It is worth mentioning that the building has become very popular with paranormal research groups, and at least two of these groups have declared The Manor House to be their favourite venue, in terms of atmosphere and the sheer wealth of phenomena captured on its premises. Living TV's Most Haunted visited the building in series four, deservedly increasing the profile of this amazing venue.

If you visit The Manor House with Eerie Evenings you will have dinner served in the spooky surroundings of the upstairs chapel, where a chilling presence is often felt and ghostly voices drift by as if on an unseen breeze. Will you be able to hold your nerve until morning in one of the most haunted buildings in Britain?
