GHOST HUNT AT TUTBURY CASTLE
AS SEEN ON LIVING TV'S 'MOST HAUNTED'
THIS VENUE IS EXCLUSIVE TO EERIE EVENINGS!

Tutbury Castle is possibly one of the most haunted buildings in Britain, and as such has attracted attention not only from numerous paranormal groups but TV programmes such as Living TV's 'Most Haunted' and 'The World's Biggest Ghost Hunt'. Lesley Smith, Tutbury Castle's curator, is also the star historian on 'Most Haunted'.

Although the castle as we see it today was built in 1071, the British Museum has recently proved that there has been an occupied site in the area for at least 10,000 years. Situated high up on a hill and surrounded by a deep moat, it is easy to see why there was an Anglo Saxon fortress on the site, and why the stone castle followed it.

Now a spectacular ruin, Tutbury Castle has had a glorious past, playing host to numerous important historical figures including  Henry III, Henry IV, King John, Richard II, James I, and perhaps most famously, Mary Queen of Scots. The latter was imprisoned near the high tower at the Castle, one of the structures that still exists today. She declared Tutbury to be her most hated of prisons, and this could be why many believe she still roams its rooms and ruins...

Tutbury Castle's ghosts are too many in number to list here, but without exception they are all seen on a regular basis. Mary Queen of Scots, the castle's most famous spiritual resident, was seen by at least 40 people in 2004. Thinking it was Lesley Smith, the castle's curator (and now star historian on Living TV's 'Most Haunted'), they were all shocked to learn that she wasn't on site, and there was no-one at all in that area. Visitors and staff  also believe that it is Mary who is seen dressed in black, looking forlornly out of a window as they leave at night.

Other notorious hauntings include that of a little girl who likes to play with visitors' jewellery and clothing, a little boy who sits on the stairs and an old lady who appears at the first floor window. The most terrifying of Tutbury's ghosts though has to be a gigantic entity who many believe to be John of Gaunt, who likes to jump out at people, appearing as a large shadow and residing in the King's bedroom, the most infamous room in the Castle. So much paranormal activity occurs in the King's bedroom that it is often closed to the public. Hundreds of visitors have collapsed or been overwhelmed by the feeling of a presence in there and have fled, vowing never to return. However, Eerie Evenings have privileged access to this room during the night.

Will you be able to survive a vigil in the King's bedroom? Or venture up to the top of the tower without meeting with Mary's stern apparition? Explore Britain's haunted heritage at this awe-inspiring location and experience an evening you will never forget.
